Position Summary:

The Katz School at Yeshiva University seeks a full-time clinical assistant or associate professor with specialization in Composition, Rhetoric, Literature, and Business Communication for its undergraduate programs. This position has a unique opportunity to develop innovative methods of teaching by collaborating with faculty from other disciplines to integrate writing-across-the-curriculum. We are committed to supporting faculty with professional development, training, and curriculum development initiatives.

Position Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

 

  • Develop and teach freshman and sophomore-level English, and Business Communication courses. English courses may include First Year Writing, Composition and Rhetoric, Speech, Business Communication, American, British, Global Literatures or Digital Humanities and related courses.
  • Monitor student progress and meet regularly with program team regarding student support, academic, and development needs.
  • Provide academic advisement to an assigned cohort of students.
  • Participate in student support and student life initiatives to develop the whole student.
  • Participate in student recruitment efforts and program events.
  • Engage in professional development activities.
  • Contribute to the development of the Katz School through research, committee participation, community initiatives, and other kinds of innovative service.

 


Experience & Educational Background:

 

 

 

 

  • Ph.D. or A.B.D. in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience in teaching both Composition and Literature to college/university students; experience in developmental writing a plus.

 


Skills & Competencies

 

 

 

 

 

  • High energy level, enthusiasm, and interest in helping and supporting students and colleagues.
