Tenure-track faculty position in English Literature

The Literature program in the Department of English at the American University of Beirut invites applications for a tenure-track position in English Literature at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning September 1, 2023. The teaching load is 2-2.

The successful candidate will extend the department’s research profile and contribute excellent teaching and advising in the BA and MA programs in English Literature. Their work will primarily concern literature in a period after 1800. The area of research specialization is open but we are especially interested in comparativists and in scholars whose work connects to areas represented by departmental minors, such as Translation and Women and Gender Studies. Teaching will include seminars in the appointee’s field and core courses in the English Literature curriculum.

Applicants must have a PhD in English or equivalent by the time of appointment.
