Job Description:

The Department of Language, Literature and Culture at Clark University in Worcester, MA, invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the assistant professor level in Japanese language and culture to begin in August, 2023.  Responsibilities include teaching four courses per year, two in intermediate or advanced Japanese language, and two in Japanese culture. We are looking for specialization in Japanese cultural production, with a disciplinary background in cultural studies, media studies (including digital media/digital humanities), comparative literature, gender studies, linguistics, religion, or a related field.  

We are interested in scholars whose research and teaching are collaborative and interdisciplinary in nature. The successful candidate will be able to take advantage of collaborative relationships with faculty and students in programs, centers, and schools such as:

among others. Eligible applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant field by the time of appointment (ABD candidates will receive full consideration but all requirements for the Ph.D. must be completed by September 2023).
