Continuing Track Assistant Professor of Spanish in Language Pedagogy, Methods of Teaching and/or Second Language Instruction, College of Arts and Sciences. Experience in translation, interpretation, and/or Heritage Spanish is desirable.

This position will support DLLC's mission. Along with oral and written fluency, translation, interpretation, and Heritage language education represent important components in the future of our program. There is an increasing demand for courses in these fields, which contribute to UD's core mission to promote a global and diverse society. Continuing Track faculty at the University of Delaware have teaching-focused appointments with varying levels of service; interdisciplinary or scholarly interests that complement and enhance the classroom experience are desirable. We are looking for creative individuals who are eager to work in a collaborative environment and who are high-quality teachers and mentors dedicated to incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion in their work.

QUALIFICATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: We are seeking an exceptional candidate in Spanish in Language Pedagogy, Methods of Teaching and/or Second Language Instruction. Experience in translation, interpretation, and/or Heritage Spanish is advantageous. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in hand by August 2023 and a minimum of two years of college-level teaching experience as the instructor of record. Superior Proficiency in Spanish required. Candidates will have demonstrated high-quality instruction in a collaborative, communicative-based learning environment. Responsibilities will include the teaching of all levels of Spanish language, which may include courses in grammar, composition, and oral communication. In addition, the candidate should be able to work with students with diverse learning styles and backgrounds. Applicants should have a demonstrated record of methodological and technological innovation in their teaching. Interest in and experience in developing and leading study abroad programs is preferred. Service to the department is expected, including student recruitment and retention.

The Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at the University of Delaware (https://www.dllc.udel.edu) is within the College of Arts and Sciences.
