The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, located in the College of Arts and Humanities at the University of Central Florida (UCF) is a student-centered department with a collegial and friendly faculty and staff. The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-earning assistant professor position in Spanish, with a concentration in Latin American literature, anticipated to begin on August 8, 2023.
The successful candidate will contribute to the department’s mission by pursuing an active research agenda, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, and providing service to the department, college, and university. The appointment carries a 3/2 teaching load.

A Ph.D. in Spanish with a specialization in South American literature from an accredited institution at the time of appointment. Native or near native fluency in both Spanish and English is required. Candidates must have demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level.
Preference will be given to those who have experience with Southern Cone literature. The preferred candidate will also have experience in teaching upper-division courses and in a variety of teaching modalities (online, hybrid, and face-to face).
The selected candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship, now or in the future.
