The Opportunity

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-earning assistant professor position in Spanish, with a concentration in Latin American literature, anticipated to begin on August 8, 2023.

The successful candidate will contribute to the department’s mission by pursuing an active research agenda, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, and providing service to the department, college, and university.  The appointment carries a 3/2 teaching load.

Minimum Qualifications

A Ph.D. in Spanish with a specialization in South American literature from an accredited institution at the time of appointment.  Native or near native fluency in both Spanish and English is required.  Candidates must have demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level. 

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to those who have experience with Southern Cone literature.  The preferred candidate will also have experience in teaching upper-division courses and in a variety of teaching modalities (online, hybrid, and face-to face).
