Assistant/Associate Professor (Tenure Track) of Contemporary Rhetoric and Composition

CSUSM seeks a Tenure Track Advanced Assistant Professor or Associate Professor to serve as Writing Program Coordinator/Composition & Rhetoric in the Literature & Writing Studies Department. The position will: Coordinate CSUSM’s first-year writing program (General Education Writing) and teach undergraduate and M.A. courses in Contemporary Rhetoric & Composition and Writing Theory/Pedagogy, beginning Fall 2020. Train, mentor, and assess graduate student teaching associates who work in the General Education Writing program. Ph.D. in Composition or Rhetoric and/or dissertation in Composition required and must have significant experience with composition program coordination and evidence of a robust research agenda in composition studies. The Literature & Writing Studies Department has a strong Cultural Studies emphasis; a candidate with secondary expertise in Latinx/Chicanx Studies with commitment to anti-racist and decolonizing pedagogies preferred. The University’s longstanding commitment to writing is reflected in a 2500-word minimum requirement for every CSUSM course.
