Instructor of Spanish / Spanish for Business Focus

The Department of Hispanic Studies at the College of Charleston seeks a full-time faculty member in Spanish to fill an Instructor of Spanish position. The successful candidate will contribute significantly and regularly to teach & advise students within Hispanic Studies’ growing and dynamic Business Language Minor in Spanish. As such, a demonstrated background in teaching and developing Spanish for Business courses at the beginning through advanced levels is requisite. In addition, the successful candidate will take a leadership role in this program’s further development and direction.

The instructorship is renewable and, during the sixth year of instruction, undergoes review for promotion to the rank of Senior Instructor. The position is benefits-eligible; the salary is competitive.

4/4 course load. Preference given to candidates with a PhD at the time of appointment and with at least 2 years of full-time collegiate teaching experience (online teaching experience a plus). Service contributions in the department are expected. Requires native or near-native fluency in Spanish and strong command of English.
