Lecturer, Spanish and Latin American Cultures (Two Openings)

The Department of Spanish and Latin American Cultures at Barnard is seeking two full-time appointments for the position of lecturer with [multi-year] renewal contingent on excellent performance, to begin July 2023.

Experience with content-based and student-centered methodologies is essential. Since the appointee will be expected to teach first- and second-year language courses as well as content-based “bridge” courses, training/experience in some area of Spanish and Latin American Cultural Studies in addition to foreign language pedagogy is a plus. Non-teaching duties include student advising and participating in service committees at the departmental and university levels.

Lecturers are reviewed in their third year of full-time service, with the possibility for reappointment and consideration for promotion in the seventh year; subsequent reviews typically occur on a even-year cycle. Qualifications: Doctoral degree (preferred) or MA, with a primary or substantial focus on Teaching Spanish as a Second or Foreign Language.
