Assistant Professor, 20th and 21st century American Literature, tenure-track (2 positions)

The Department of English at Wake Forest University invites applications for two tenure-track positions in 20th-21st century American Literature. One position will emphasize modern and contemporary American poetry and poetics, and the other position will emphasize modern and contemporary American prose fiction. Secondary interests could include: cultural studies, critical theory, performance studies, race and gender theory, and electronic literatures.  We seek teacher-scholars whose research engages with diverse perspectives, topics, and/or populations and whose teaching will contribute to and enhance our vibrant curriculum in literature, culture, and language. We welcome applications from candidates who bring varied experiences, backgrounds, and approaches. Applicants must have a PhD in hand by August 2020. The teaching load is nine courses over two years, with courses ranging from first-year seminars to advanced electives and MA-level courses. Salary competitive.
