Full or Advanced Associate Professor (tenured) of Spanish and/or Portuguese

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Emory University invites applications for a faculty position at the full professor level, beginning in August 2023. Candidates at the advanced associate professor level will also be considered. All candidates must have a prominent scholarly profile as well as proven leadership and administrative experience. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese, Hispanic Studies, Latin American Studies, Latinx Studies or related discipline or interdisciplinary degree) and have native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese and English. Research area is open; we are especially interested in candidates whose research and teaching address issues of race, ethnicity, and indigeneity in the cultures of Latin America, Africa, Iberia, and/or the United States. Emory University places a high value on both teaching and scholarship, and the candidate must show experience with, knowledge of, and sensitivity to the needs of a culturally diverse student body. Of special importance is a willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with other departments and programs at Emory, such as African Studies, Anthropology, Global Health, Latin American and Caribbean Studies, and Linguistics.
