The Department of Humanities, Social Sciences, and the Arts (HSSA) at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology seeks candidates for a tenure-track assistant professor to begin August 2024.

Qualified candidates must hold a Ph.D. or other terminal degree in English, Rhetoric & Composition, Technical Communication, or a related field by your start date, and must demonstrate potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching.  The department and the institute place a high value on engaging students from traditionally underrepresented groups, and candidates from these groups are especially encouraged to apply. Individuals who interact well with both students and faculty within our science, engineering and computer science programs are also encouraged to apply.

Essential job functions include classroom teaching, curriculum development and continuous improvement, research and other professional development activities, student advising and service to the department and institute. A successful candidate will teach both in HSSA and in Rose-Hulman’s Engineering Design program where writing courses and humanities content are integrated with design and technical courses in a team-taught studio format. The person we hire will normally teach a variety of design studios, writing courses, and electives in their areas of expertise and interest.
