Lecturer in Technical, Business, and First-Year Writing (Two Positions)

The Department of English and Philosophy at Idaho State University invites applications for the position Lecturer in English, with primary teaching expectations in technical writing, business communications, and first-year writing. This is a full-time, nine-month, renewable non-tenure-track position with benefits. This job posting will be used to hire two (2) lecturers in English.

The Department of English and Philosophy is housed within the ISU College of Arts and Letters, and faculty members across the college work supportively and collaboratively with each other and with College and University leaders to advance teaching, research, and service, and to promote educational excellence, access, and opportunity. The main campus of ISU is located in the city of Pocatello, an urban center of 70,000 people in the foothills of Southeast Idaho, with close access to the national forest, alpine and Nordic skiing, and year-round outdoor recreation. The area around Pocatello is an important agricultural region with numerous, small farming and ranching communities. The land on which Idaho State University’s Pocatello campus sits lies within the traditional and ancestral home of the Shoshone and Bannock peoples, and the Fort Hall Reservation is just fifteen miles from the Pocatello campus. ISU draws students from around the U.S. and across the globe, but a significant percentage of the student body comes from the surrounding communities. Many students are first-generation and non-traditional, and an increasing number are heritage speakers of Spanish.

Idaho State University aims to be designated a Hispanic-Serving Institution. Related to this goal, we especially encourage candidates whose teaching and service interests involve working with students from rural, Spanish-speaking, or heritage Spanish-speaking populations.
