Assistant Professor of Linguistics and/or Spanish

The Department of English and Foreign Languages at Louisiana State University Shreveport invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2023.  A Ph.D. in Linguistics and/or Spanish is preferred, but we will also consider advanced ABD’s.

The ideal candidate will have a dynamic and diversified background in Linguistics and Spanish, be able to teach general linguistics and language history for our English program, and also contribute to the Spanish language program within the department.  Specifically, we seek a candidate who can teach basic and advanced Spanish language and linguistics courses as well as English linguistics and history of the English language.  The ability to teach freshman composition and other courses to support our Writing in Multiple Media concentration such as Editing and Writing Technologies is a plus.

The teaching load is four courses per semester at all levels, including opportunities at the graduate level in our interdisciplinary Master of Liberal Arts program.

Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled, but we would appreciate receiving applications by January 20, 2023, and will give priority to applications received by that date.
