PART-TIME FACULTY - JAPANESE

The Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures at the University of Rhode Island seeks Part-Time Faculty to teach one Japanese course for the Spring 2023 and Fall 2023 academic semesters.

The Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Rhode Island is a collaborative, forward-leaning, and dynamic team of individuals committed across all languages to the departmental priorities of proficiency-based teaching, intercultural communicative competence (ICC) and languages for the professions. We collectively believe in diversity of thought, ideas and, especially, people. Our faculty come from multiple and diverse ethnic, linguistic and cultural backgrounds and we unite around our three afore-mentioned priorities with open-mindedness, collegiality, mutual respect and a spirit of consensus.

Our department is one of the largest undergraduate language departments in the nation, and it has a leadership team that includes a chair, an associate chair, six language section heads, a proficiency coordinator, an intercultural communicative competence coordinator, and a Language Center director. We also house the Chinese Flagship Language Program as well as five other signature programs: the International Engineering Program, International Business Program, International Computer Science Program, the International Studies and Diplomacy Program and the International Pharmaceutical Sciences Program.
