Assistant Professor of English - Cultural Rhetoric and Composition

The Department of English at California State University, Long Beach, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Rhetoric and Composition with expertise in cultural rhetorics. Preferred areas of specialization include, but are not limited to, the borders/contact zones existing among communities of diverse identities, including ethnicity, race, gender, and citizenship, the material and digital rhetorics of workplaces and other sites, as well as equity-based pedagogy and teacher education.

The successful candidate will teach existing courses in rhetoric, composition, literacy, writing in the disciplines, workplace writing, and pedagogy in both the English B.A. and M.A. programs They will also develop new courses in line with their scholarly interests, contribute to the department’s mission of cultivating critical and creative thinking, and prepare students to be ready for advanced graduate study, professional writing/editing, and/or teaching. The successful candidate will also demonstrate the ability to balance excellence in teaching, advising, professional and scholarly activities, and a commitment to service to the university.
