Associate Director of First-Year Writing at UNT (Lecturer or Senior Lecturer)

The Department of English at the University of North Texas, a Minority and Hispanic Serving Institution, invites applications for an Associate Director of First-Year Writing at the rank of lecturer or senior lecturer. This position is full-time, renewable, comes with a competitive salary, and includes benefits. The successful candidate will help administer a program that serves over 6,000 undergraduates each year. Duties include training, mentoring, managing, and overseeing the 50+ instructors who teach in the program, as well as overseeing assessment and curriculum for the program. This is an administrative position, which comes with summer salary and a reduced teaching load. The desired starting date is August 2023. The successful candidate will join a diverse, collaborative, internationally recognized group of colleagues in the Department of English.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have a PhD in Rhetoric and Composition (or a closely-related field such as Writing Studies or English Studies) with expertise or experience in Writing Program Administration. Candidates should be prepared to teach at a Minority-Serving and Hispanic-Serving institution and provide evidence of a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants who have expertise or experience teaching developmental writing and teaching diverse populations of students.
