Assistant Professor in Spanish and Latin American Studies

Monmouth College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Spanish and Latin American Studies beginning August 2023. Review of applications will begin on January 15, 2023, and continue until the position is filled.

The successful candidate must be committed to undergraduate teaching excellence, service in a liberal arts college setting, academic scholarship, and the College’s liberal arts mission. Tenure-track faculty teach three courses per semester, serve on faculty committees, advise undergraduate students, and participate in faculty governance, recruitment activities, curriculum development, and departmental and institution-wide assessment.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Spanish language, Hispanic or Latin American literatures or cultures, or related field; ABD considered.
  • Proficiency, at a native or near-native level, in Spanish and English.
  • Ability to teach Spanish language from beginning to advanced levels, including grammar and composition, Spanish for Heritage Speakers, and Spanish for the Professions.
  • Ability to contribute to the Latin American and Latino Studies program.
  • Approach to teaching that affirms diversity and is inclusive for students at different ability levels and from different backgrounds.
