Located in the historic community of Walla Walla, Whitman's beautiful tree-lined campus is home to an intellectually diverse, dynamic, and supportive community of some 500 staff and faculty serving roughly 1,500 students from the local region and across the globe. The Hispanic Studies Department at Whitman College is excited to announce a one-year, Visiting Assistant position, effective August, 2023. Ph.D. strongly preferred, ABD considered. The successful candidate should be prepared to offer courses in all levels of Spanish language, in a context emphasizing literary and cultural analysis and critical thinking skills. Candidates will offer advanced courses in contemporary poetry, Spanish in applied contexts, and/or Spanish as a Heritage Language, according to the candidate's interests and expertise. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English required. The teaching load for this position is five courses.

Salary Range: $64,000-$67,000
