Position Summary

The Department of Engineering Education (DEE) at University at Buffalo (UB) invites candidates to apply for the position of Assistant Professor of Teaching (Lecturer) in Technical Communication, a non-tenure track lecturer position. The candidate will join a growing team of technical and professional communication teacher-scholars, who contribute to the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and the Department of Engineering Education through teaching undergraduate and graduate courses that focus on effective and just communication within STEM fields.

Assistant Professors of Teaching in DEE typically:

  • Develop and teach courses in STEM communication
  • Formulate and implement student excellence initiatives, ABET objectives, and diversity enhancement
  • Assist in the analysis of student academic progress and retention
  • Contribute to assessment activities

In addition to effective teachers, the Department of Engineering Education seeks teacher-scholars who can contribute to new programmatic initiatives and teaching practices. Participation in innovative research is encouraged.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidates must hold a master's degree in Rhetoric, Writing, Technical Communication, or a related field.
  • All academic requirements for the master's degree must be completed prior to appointment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference given to candidates that hold a PhD in Rhetoric, Writing, Technical Communication, or a related field.
