The English Department at Whitman College is seeking candidates for a two-year position in medieval literature at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor of English, beginning August, 2023. A Ph.D. is required upon starting the position.
The successful candidate will offer courses in early English literature from across the medieval period, including an upper-level Chaucer course and thematic courses of the candidate's design, as well as introduction to Shakespeare and introductory genre courses for non-majors. We are especially eager to offer courses that address the intersections of early literature with topics such as race, gender, sexuality, or disability. The annual teaching load is five courses.

Salary Range: $64,000-$67,000
