One-Year Visiting Assistant Professor in Global Hispanophone Cultures

The Spanish Department at Colby College invites applications for a One-Year Visiting Assistant Professor in Global Hispanophone Cultures position, starting September 1, 2023. 

We are seeking a person whose teaching and scholarship demonstrate experience with the practices and methodologies of cultural studies and whose research engages with the history and production of knowledge in global hispanophone cultures. Research may focus on any element of Iberian culture, especially when it engages transatlantic, Asian, and/or African cultural production. Candidates with a secondary or intersectional emphasis on gender
and sexuality studies and/or ecocriticism and environmental humanities are especially encouraged to apply. The strongest candidates for this position will also have a demonstrated ability to teach language courses at all levels. The position requires teaching a combination of special topics and language courses to total 5 courses per year; an ongoing program of research; and the willingness to contribute to the intellectual life of the college.

Qualifications

The successful applicant will have PhD. in hand by August 2023, native or near-native command of Spanish, and demonstrated ability in teaching language and literature/culture.
