Visiting Assistant Professor of English

The English Department at Georgetown College seeks applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of English beginning August 2023, pending funding. Applicants with Ph.D. in hand are preferred, but ABD candidates with strong teaching records will be considered. The course load is twelve credits per semester (four classes) including the following possible options: first-year composition; Foundations 111 (a first-year course in critical thinking, analytical reading, writing, and arguing that uses key texts from literature, philosophy, religion, the natural and social sciences, and the fine arts); literature survey. The primary obligation of a visiting faculty member is to provide excellent classroom instruction. Because it is expected that visiting faculty members are continuing to search for permanent employment, it is appropriate that they devote professional energy to their research and scholarship. Visiting faculty are not expected to participate in institutional service (advising or committee work). Visiting faculty may attend faculty meetings, but they are not generally considered voting members of the faculty
