The Department of English at Davidson College seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor for a term of two academic years (2023-2024 and 2024-2025), with specialization in British Literature before 1800 or American Literature before 1900 or both. We welcome applications from candidates with research interests and experience teaching in one or more fields such as these: colonialism and contact, gender and sexuality, race and racial formation; disability studies, indigenous and diasporic studies; and other fields that enrich our course offerings. The successful candidate will teach five courses per academic year and will have opportunities to design a range of courses, from first-year writing and introductory surveys to upper-level seminars in the candidate’s specialization.
Please send CV, letter of application, and statement of work advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion. Review of applications begins on March 1. All application materials can be submitted at https://employment.davidson.edu. Applicants will submit contact information for three references: however, submission instructions will be sent to email addresses provided by the applicant once a short-list of candidates is determined.
