The German Studies Department at Whitman College is seeking candidates for a one-year position beginning at the rank of visiting assistant professor (or visiting instructor if ABD), beginning August 2023. The German Studies Department is committed to diversifying and decolonizing our curriculum. We seek a candidate with exceptional teaching qualifications, for any research specialty or period, and who is committed to mentoring students. Special consideration may be given to candidates with expertise in transnational/migration studies, post-colonialism, minoritized populations and/or literatures in German-speaking countries, or gender studies. The German Studies department at Whitman College is small, but has a vibrant co-curricular life on campus, including a German interest house, active language tables, and lecture and events series. The successful candidate will have interest in student and community outreach and co-curricular programming.
The successful candidate will offer Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced German Language courses.

Salary Range: $64,000-$67,000
