Lecturer in French and English

 

Description:

The departments of French and Francophone Studies and of English at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) are accepting applications for a Lecturer position. This is a full-time position, benefits eligible. The position will begin August 16, 2023 and may be renewable.

 

Duties:

The Lecturer will teach a regular load of six courses per academic year. Three of those classes will be in the department of French and Francophone Studies and will include literature and culture seminars as well as introductory French language courses, while the other three classes will be in the department of English, primarily in the First Year Writing Program. Courses in the department of French and Francophone Studies will be taught in French, and those in the First Year Writing Program will be taught in English. Other responsibilities for this Lecturer position include holding office hours, advising students, and participating in the intellectual life of the university.

 

Qualifications:

The candidate must have at least a Master’s Degree (Ph.D. preferred) in a related field, along with experience teaching French at the college level. Native or near-native competence in French and English are required. Evidence of commitment to students’ success and recruitment, and of participation in departmental activities is desirable.
