Visiting Assistant Professor of English and Writing

The Department of English and Writing within the College of Arts and Letters at The University of Tampa invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in technical writing and editing. This is a one-year position with potential for renewal.

We seek applicants capable of teaching both introductory courses in technical and academic writing and upper-level courses in a related area, such as technical editing, visual rhetoric, user experience (UX) design, medical/science writing, training materials, technology-enhanced writing, or accessibility. Special topics courses in the applicant’s area of specialty would be welcome within the Professional Writing and Publishing concentration of our Writing major. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Candidates must have a PhD in English or a related field in hand by August 2023.

The new hire will teach three courses per semester with half of the course load in professional writing and half in academic writing. The successful candidate will be an experienced and successful teacher in both areas. Previous experience in industry, government, or non-profits is welcome.
