Assistant Professor of Early Modern Literature

The Department of English at UNLV seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Early Modern Literature with special competence in Shakespeare studies. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate courses in area of specialization and other literature courses required for the major. We invite applications from candidates with expertise in any subfield, and we are especially interested in strengths in one or more of the following areas: critical race studies, gender and sexuality, digital humanities, postcolonial studies, and global studies.

The English Department of UNLV houses three journals and a literary review, The Ben Jonson Journal, MELUS, The Popular Culture Review, and Interim. The Department is closely affiliated with the Beverly Rogers, Carol C. Harter Black Mountain Institute (BMI), an international literary center that brings distinguished writers to campus for extended stays, and that publishes The Believer and Witness.

This position requires a Ph.D. in English or a related field by time of appointment from a regionally accredited college or university. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment. Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
