Job Overview

The Department of Romance and Arabic Languages and Literatures (RALL) in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor of Mexican and/or U.S. Latinx literature written in Spanish. This is a one-year position with the possibility of a second-year renewal. 

Essential Functions

The successful candidate can expect to:

  • Teach two courses per semester in RALL at the undergraduate and graduate levels. These courses may include, but not be limited to, Spanish language, Mexican/Latinx literature, media, culture, and/or creative writing courses from the introductory to the advanced graduate levels; 
  • Utilize innovative technologies and teaching methods from prior teaching experience, including Distance/Online Learning;
  • Maintain an active research agenda which involves conducting original research and publishing in one’s area(s) of expertise.

Minimum Requirements

All of the following are required prior to the effective date of the appointment, which is August 15, 2023:  

  • PhD in Spanish.  
  • Minimum of three academic years of experience teaching courses in Spanish language, Spanish, Latin American, or Latinx literature or culture at the college (undergraduate or graduate) level, which could have been as a teaching assistant, adjunct or full-time faculty.  
  • Native or near-native fluency in Spanish.
