High Point University invites applications for a 9-month, non tenure-track Assistant Professor of English. High Point University is a comprehensive university with a liberal arts mission. The position begins August 2023. Faculty at this rank teach a 3/3 load and enjoy professional development funding as well as opportunities to make a significant impact on the institution’s academic life. We seek an outstanding teacher-scholar to join a collegial faculty representing Literature, Creative Writing, Professional and Technical Writing, and Rhetoric/Composition.

The candidate will teach courses in High Point University’s new general education curriculum. Potential teaching needs will arise at all levels of the curriculum: a first-year seminar and first-year writing requirement; a sophomore Humanities course; an early American Literature survey. Upper-level teaching opportunities in the candidate's area of specialization will be available on rotation and/or as needed. Preferred specialization is early American literature. We especially invite candidates with ideas for collaborating with other departments or services or launching interdisciplinary initiatives. The successful candidate will have an active research agenda and demonstrated potential for scholarly publication.

Minimum Requirements:  Ph.D. in English or related field. Candidates must have degree in hand by August 2023.
