Description
The Department of French and the Institute for Comparative Literature and Society at Columbia University invite applications for a Lecturer in Discipline to begin July 1, 2023. Teaching responsibilities will include the first three years of French instruction, including beginning and intermediate French, conversation, and advanced writing courses, as well as teaching an Introduction to Comparative Literature and Society course. Responsibilities will also include serving as Director of Undergraduate Studies for majors and concentrators in Comparative Literature and Society. This position is a one-year appointment with the possibility of a one-year renewal conditional on funding and performance.
Qualifications
Minimum Degree Requirements:
PhD. required at the time of appointment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have native or near-native fluency in French, 3 years minimum teaching experience of French as a second/foreign language (college-level experience preferred), evidence of excellence in teaching, expertise in current methodologies and culture-based instruction, including integration of technology in the classroom.
