The Hispanic Studies Department at Whitman College is excited to announce a one-year, Visiting Assistant Professor position, effective August, 2023. Ph.D. strongly preferred, ABD considered (at the rank of Visiting Instructor). The successful candidate should be prepared to offer courses in all levels of Spanish language, Spanish in applied contexts according to the candidate’s expertise, and courses on literary and cultural analysis. All candidates with expertise in Hispanic literatures and cultures are welcome to apply; candidates with expertise in poetry and lyric are particularly welcome. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English required. The teaching load for this position is five courses.
