Position Summary:
The Rollins College Department of English seeks candidates for a one-year, full-time, non-tenure track faculty teaching position, beginning fall term 2023. Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition preferred; Ph.D. in a related field, ABD, or M.F.A. considered, given sufficient experience teaching first-year writing. Responsibilities include a 4/4 teaching load: six sections per year of first-year writing and two general education courses in literature or writing. First-year writing classes are small and capped at seventeen students. The successful candidate will have a record of teaching excellence in college composition and a willingness to work with and contribute to the first-year writing team at Rollins. Visiting Assistant Professors receive travel funding and opportunities for professional development; they are welcomed and encouraged to participate in department and college life.

Minimum Qualifications and Education:
- Master's degree in Rhetoric and Composition or in a related field.
- Experience teaching first-year composition or academic writing at the college level.
- Demonstrated ability to create an effective syllabus and course design for a first-year composition course.
- Effectiveness in the classroom, as evidenced in the materials and campus visit.
Preferred
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition or ABD or M.F.A. in a related field.
- Teaching experience focused on thesis-driven and research-based arguments.
