The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics in The College of Arts and Sciences at Syracuse University invites applications for a full-time, academic year, non-tenure track appointment as Assistant Teaching Professor of Russian Language and Culture. Position will be hired on a three-year term contract with possibility of renewal. Appointee must be available to start on August 21, 2023.
A Ph.D. in Russian or a related Slavic field is required at the time of appointment. Native or near-native proficiency in English and Russian is required. Experience teaching Russian language and culture courses at a North American institution of higher education is preferred. A successful applicant must be able to work in a multicultural environment that reflects our student body and embraces the College’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Teaching duties will include teaching a total of 6 courses in the fall and spring semesters consisting of: (i) teaching elementary and intermediate Russian language courses and possibly upper-division language as well (ii) undergraduate mentoring, (iii) active participation in cultural programming, and (iv) additional administrative duties as assigned by the Russian Program and the department chair, including but not limited to professional development leadership and participation and committee service.
