Visiting Assistant Professor | Department of English

The Misericordia University Department of English invites applicants for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor to begin in August 2023. The successful candidate’s primary responsibility will be to the University Writing Program and instruction in the University Writing Seminar. Secondary expertise in the areas of rhetoric of health and medicine, literature and medicine, and/or narrative medicine are a plus.

This is a 1-year position, renewable depending on performance and need. Visiting Assistant Professors teach four courses per semester and are eligible for research support, including course release, pending reappointment.

Qualifications

A Ph.D. in a discipline relevant to the position is preferred. ABD and MFA candidates will be considered. Candidates must have evidence of excellence in teaching undergraduate students in the area of first-year composition or its equivalent.
