Visiting Lecturer in French and German

Job Description:

The Department of World Languages and Cultures at Berry College invites applications for a one-year visiting lecturer position in French and German to begin in August 2023. The ideal candidate will have experience in and passion for teaching lower-level language courses in the college setting in both French and German. The primary responsibility of this position is to teach three four-credit-hour, lower-level language courses per semester. 

The department is committed to providing students with the opportunity of becoming proficient in the languages, literatures and cultures of the languages it offers, and to gain cross- and intercultural competency and global awareness. It seeks to graduate majors and minors with advanced communicative skills in speaking, reading, and writing, cultural knowledge of foreign countries, and a sophisticated understanding of the problems and promises that a globalized world presents. The department also boasts of graduates who have won numerous prestigious fellowships, such as Fulbright. 

Requirements:

Minimum of a master's degree in either French or German. The successful candidate should possess a strong interest in mentoring students in a residential college environment and share our commitment to student engagement.
