Spanish Lecturer / Spanish Language Program Co-Coordinator

The Department of Hispanic Languages and Literatures at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a non-tenure-stream lecturer position. We are seeking a dynamic, innovative teacher who works at the intersection of Hispanic Linguistics, and Second Language Acquisition. Pending budgetary approval, the position will begin in fall 2020 with an initial one-year contract, with the possibility of obtaining renewable a three-year contract after satisfactory performance reviews. The usual teaching load is three courses per semester with course reduction depending on coordination duties.

Minimum Qualifications:
• PhD in Hispanic Applied Linguistics; Spanish Sociolinguistics, or equivalent by August 2020.
• Evidence of Native or near-native fluency and ability to teach in Spanish and English.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience in language coordination, teaching training, and language placement and assessment.
• Evidence of capacity to teach courses in all levels of Spanish language, linguistics, or culture from an interdisciplinary perspective.
• Demonstrated ability to work as Department Language Co-Coordinator (on par with existing Coordinator) in a proficiency-oriented and standards-based language program, advise, train, and supervise approximately twenty-five to thirty teaching assistants and instructors.
• Strong evidence of re-designing standards-based language courses and developing new content-based courses.
