Non-tenure-track Adjunct Lecturer in Spanish

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Northwestern University invites applications for several full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure track, adjunct instructors at the rank of Lecturer for the Spanish Language Program. These are 10-month positions that will begin on September 1, 2023 and go through June 30, 2024. The successful candidates will teach two Spanish language courses per quarter (six courses in total).

Requirements include native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English, experience teaching Spanish as a second/foreign language, and expertise in current teaching methodologies. A Ph.D. in Second Language Acquisition or Applied Linguistics is strongly preferred (ABDs may be considered); graduate coursework in Latin American and Iberian literary and cultural studies coupled with demonstrated second language teaching experience is welcome. Familiarity with the ACTFL proficiency guidelines and current foreign/second language pedagogical practices is highly desired.
