The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC invites applications for the position of Clinical Assistant Professor of Hispanic Studies (non-tenure track, two-year renewable contract), starting August 2023.

Responsibilities include full-time teaching (4:4), coordination of beginning and/or intermediate-level language courses, and active participation in departmental events and committees. Applicants must have native or near-native fluency in Spanish, Ph. D. in hand at the time of appointment, experience teaching undergraduate Spanish courses in a 4-year college or university, and training or professional activity related to foreign language pedagogy. Preference is given to candidates specializing in 1) Spanish for the professions, 2) Spanish for Heritage learners, 3) intercultural communication, or 4) applied linguistics and second language acquisition. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm and proven teaching excellence to provide innovative instruction at all levels of the curriculum along with a strong sense of commitment to building our undergraduate program and developing outreach initiatives in the Hispanic community.
