Instructor

The Department of English at the University of South Carolina, Columbia campus, invites applications for multiple one-year instructor positions. The 4/4 teaching load will center on classes in our first-year composition program (teaching ENGL 101 and ENGL 102). This is a nine-month appointment beginning August 16, 2023 and ending May 15, 2024. This appointment may be renewed contingent upon Dean’s approval, satisfactory performance, departmental needs, and the availability of funding.

Candidates must hold a PhD in English or a terminal degree in field, completed by August 1, 2023, and have a minimum of two years of experience teaching English at the college level, with evidence of effectiveness and innovation. We especially welcome applications from candidates qualified to teach courses in professional and/or technical writing.
