Assistant Professor of Creative Writing

The Department of English in the Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts at Loyola Marymount University seeks candidates for two tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level beginning Fall of 2024.

The successful candidate should have experience teaching creative writing workshops and literature courses at the college level and a significant record of creative writing publication in nationally recognized venues. We encourage candidates from underrepresented backgrounds and those who demonstrate a commitment to LMU's Mission and [Jesuit and Marymount traditions] of advocating for the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized.

The position involves undergraduate teaching in the University Core, the English Studies Major and Minor programs, and the MA Studies in English program. The teaching load is 2-2-2-3 over two years (i.e., two classes per regular semester and three classes every fourth semester). The successful candidate will contribute to the administration and development of our Creative Writing Program, mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students, and engage in service at the departmental, college, and/or university levels.

Applicants must show promise of excellence in teaching, writing, and publication. A Ph.D. or MFA is required. However, ABD applicants who anticipate completing the doctorate by Fall 2024 will also be considered.
