Position Description

The University of Chicago Department of English Language and Literature is accepting applications for a position at the rank of Professor. We seek candidates who specialize in one or more of the following areas: modernist studies, 19th- and 20th-century American literature, or the history of the novel. Preferred subfield specialties include affect theory, queer theory, feminism and gender studies, critical race theory, and/or interdisciplinary or comparative approaches to literature. The expected start date of the position is July 1, 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter. 

Qualifications

Applicants must currently hold a PhD and have a substantial record of publication in the areas of the search.
