2024 Jahrling Forese Writer-In-Residence - Graphic Novelist

Colby College’s Creative Writing Program is accepting applications for a Graphic Novelist for the Spring, 2024 Jennifer Jahrling Forese Writer-in-Residency.

The Jahrling Forese residency is a semester-long opportunity for a writer at any stage of their career to work on a new project while contributing to Colby’s thriving literary community. The Program is looking for a graphic novelist for spring 2024. We will also be happy to consider a team of one writer and an illustrator. Duties include teaching one class designed by the resident(s) in consultation with Program faculty; giving one public presentation of work-in-progress and one public lecture, workshop, or demonstration to a general audience; scheduling office hours; working with selected students one-on-one; and interacting with the broader Waterville community. In addition to a generous honorarium, Colby provides residents with housing in downtown Waterville and a generous stipend for expenses.

Qualifications:  An MFA, terminal degree in a related field (or professional experience equivalent to a terminal degree), one published graphic novel, and experience teaching at the undergraduate level.

To apply, please submit a CV, a cover letter, a description of the proposed undergraduate course, writing sample, and the names of two possible references (please do not send reference letters at this time).

Materials can be posted to Interfolio: http://apply.interfolio.com/130055

Deadline:  Monday, October 2, 2023.
