Assistant Professor, English

Summary:

The Department of English at Skidmore College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor with specialization in medieval literature. We seek a colleague with research and teaching expertise in the field of premodern critical race studies. Strong preference will be given to candidates who also bring a global and/or intersectional approach to the study of race in the medieval period.

The teaching load is 18 credits (typically five courses) per year, including one writing-intensive course each semester and regular participation in Skidmore’s First Year Experience program. All professors are expected to participate fully in the life of the college, including advising, faculty governance, and department activities. 

Qualifications:

Applicants must demonstrate excellence in teaching and scholarship, as well as a strong commitment to undergraduate education at a liberal arts college. Ph.D. is expected at the time of employment.
