The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures (MLL) at Lehigh University invites applications for a tenure- track Assistant Professor position in Spanish and Hispanic Studies, effective August 2024. The successful candidate must have earned a Ph.D. in Spanish and Hispanic Studies or a directly related field by the date of employment. The candidate should have at least one year of teaching experience in US institutions at the college level. Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish is required.
The successful candidate will join a department that has a strong commitment to research and teaching and will be expected to contribute significant scholarship in the area of 20th- and 21st- century Latin American literary and cultural studies. The teaching load is two courses per semester, and will include a wide range of Spanish language, literature, and culture courses for undergraduates. Faculty members in MLL are encouraged to participate in interdisciplinary programs, such as Latin American and Latino Studies, Global Studies, and Film and Documentary Studies, among others.
