The Department of Modern Languages and Classics at the University of Alabama invites applications for a tenure-track Associate Professor of German Applied Linguistics position to begin August 16, 2024. The successful applicant is expected to have a robust scholarly and publication record, teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate German courses, and provide appropriate service. Specific assignments will be needs-based and may include directing the first- and second-year German language programs, Goethe Institute testing, and collaboration with the German for Engineering program. Successful candidates will possess native or near-native fluency in German and English and must demonstrate successful teaching at the university level. Preference will be given to advanced candidates with a Ph.D. in German Applied Linguistics, and who have an ongoing research agenda focused on language pedagogy, curriculum development, language teacher education, and related areas of applied linguistics.
