The Department of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Italian, to enhance a successful and dynamic program in Italian, to begin 17 August 2020. We seek for this position a specialist in Italian Studies dedicated to literary and cultural studies and critical theory, with specializations and/or teaching experience in Mediterranean Studies, or Medieval and Renaissance Studies, preferred.

 

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in hand in Italian Studies or closely related field by June 1. Native or near-native fluency in Italian and English is required.  Candidates should have a record of demonstrated excellence in research, teaching, and service, with the ability to teach language, literature, and cultural studies at all undergraduate levels, and also the interpersonal skills and collegiality necessary to help maintain a strong Italian program.  Preference for candidates with a background in creative program development, and also an interest in study abroad and interdisciplinary approaches to Italian Studies.
