Tenure Track Professor (Open-Rank) of Linguistics in Creoles, Multilingualism, and Language Contact

The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at the University at Buffalo, a flagship institution of the State University of New York, invites applications for a faculty position In Linguistics.

The research area is open, but scholars working in creoles (particularly Palenquero, Antillan Creoles or Haitian Creole), the African Diaspora and/or Indigenous Studies (particularly Nahuatl, Quechua, Aymara, Mapuche, Palenquero or Guaraní), as well as those who work across more than one language of the Caribbean or Latin American region are particularly encouraged to apply.

Candidates should have a record of research, publication, and professional engagement appropriate for their stage of career. The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures seeks a colleague with skills for program building, and who is eager to join a department in a growth phase at UB and engaged in fields such SLA, Psycholinguistics, NLP, sociolinguistics, bilingualism/language contact, languages and power/attitudes/identities, language education and policy, or language preservation/revitalization. This position is located within an energetic, collegial, and diverse department that has been formally identified as an area of expansion and investment by the university leadership.
