Candidates will be expected to teach courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Native or near native fluency in Italian and English is required; fluency in one or more additional languages is preferred. Candidates are expected to have the Ph.D. in hand by the appointment start date (September 1, 2024) and must demonstrate a distinguished record of scholarly publication as well as excellence in teaching.
Candidates should apply via https://facultypositions.stanford.edu/en-us/job/494578/assistant-professor-in-italian and submit:

- three confidential letters of recommendation
- a teaching statement (that may include a diversity statement; no more than two pages)
- a brief statement of research interests (no more than three pages)
- teaching evaluations (if available)
Finalists will be asked to submit a writing sample. For full consideration, please submit application materials by November 1, 2023.
The Department of French and Italian, School of Humanities and Sciences and Stanford University value faculty who will help foster an inclusive academic environment for colleagues, students, and staff with a wide range of backgrounds, identities, and outlooks. Candidates may choose to include as part of their research and teaching statements a brief discussion about how their work and experience will further these ideals. Additional information about Stanford's IDEAL initiative may be found here: https://ideal.stanford.edu/about-ideal/diversity-statement.
The salary range for this position is $105,000 – $112,863 for 2023-24.
