The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at the University at Buffalo, a flagship institution of the State University of New York, invites applications for a faculty position in Caribbean or Latin American literature, culture, and criticism.
The research area is open, but scholars with a transdisciplinary approach, who work in creoles, the African Diaspora and/or Indigenous Studies (particularly Nahuatl, Quechua, Aymara, Mapuche or Guaraní), as well as those who work across more than one language of the Caribbean or Latin American region are particularly encouraged to apply. All historical approaches are welcome, though we are particularly interested in scholars who address contemporary issues.
Candidates should have a record of research, publication, and professional engagement appropriate for their stage of career. The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures seeks a colleague with skills for program building, and who is eager join a department in a growth phase at UB and interested in building strong connections in our strategic strengths such as media study and performance, film, critical theory, global health, ecocriticism and sustainability, creoles and creolization, indigenous studies, comparative literature/theory, global gender studies, etc. This position is located within an energetic, collegial, and diverse department that has been formally identified as an area of expansion and investment by the university leadership.
