The Department of English at Louisiana State University (LSU) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Multi-Ethnic U.S. Literatures, beginning in August of 2024. We are accepting applications from scholars working in any period or critical/theoretical field, as well as scholars taking a more hemispheric approach to American literatures that includes the United States.
Located in Baton Rouge, LSU is the flagship land-grant institution in Louisiana and a Research 1 University. We support research and teaching in a broad range of fields and many interdisciplinary programs.
Requirements: Ph.D., with expertise in one or more ethnic literature traditions, by the time the position begins (August 2024); record of publication or strong promise of future scholarly achievement. We also seek candidates who are able to foster an inclusive environment inside and outside the classroom.
Teaching Expectations: The teaching load is 2/2 and consists of graduate and undergraduate courses in Multi-Ethnic U.S. Literature(s), focusing on whatever tradition(s) and/or subfield(s) the candidate specializes in. The new hire in this position is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and serve on graduate dissertation committees.
Research Expectations: Competitive candidates should maintain an active scholarly profile on par with the expectations of a Research 1 Institution. The College provides support for research and faculty development.
